Leading aviation law firm Beaumont & Son is to merge with City firm Clyde & Co at the start of next month.

Under the deal, Clyde & Co's aviation department will be rebranded 'Beaumont & Son - aviation at Clyde & Co'.

The niche firm's London, Rio de Janeiro and Singapore offices will transfer across, while its Paris practice - Beaumont Garnault - will remain as a separate entity.

All 18 partners at Beaumonts, which has a turnover in the region of £13 million, will join the merged firm, although two will become consultants.

Beaumonts senior partner John Balfour said: 'Our market has become increasingly competitive and this way we think we can enhance the service we give to clients.'

He added that Clyde & Co's overseas offices in locations such as the Middle East and Hong Kong are a particular attraction of the merger.
