Healthiest deal: London firm Nellen advised Global Healthcare Exchange Europe, the operator of the largest European electronic healthcare exchange, on a significant investment in Tecsol, a UK-based developer of e-procurement systems for the NHS. Norfolk firm Hood Vores & Allwood represented Tecsol.

Flame-grilled deal: City firm Bristows advised Gowrings on the recommended offer from Caspian UK (Camberley), valuing the company at £9.7 million. Gowrings is one of the largest Burger King franchisees in the UK, operating 41 restaurants in the midlands and the south of England. Guildford firm Stevens & Bolton advised Caspian.


Straightest deal: Leeds firm Walker Morris advised Straight, the recycling containers supplier, on its acquisition of Blackwall for £6.75 million. Blackwall supplies waste containers to local authorities, waste management companies and other businesses. National firm Irwin Mitchell acted for Blackwall.


Most energetic deal: Northampton firm Vincent Sykes & Higham advised battery research company Atraverda on an equity financing worth more than £3.6 million. Atraverda is developing a battery with an advanced energy storage system, and size and weight advantages over more traditional lead-acid batteries. Scottish firm Maclay Murray & Spens acted for the new investors, Scottish Equity Partners, Enertech Capital and OnPoint Technologies.


Fittest deal: London firm Howard Kennedy advised Next Generation Clubs on its acquisition of the Harbour Club - the health, fitness and tennis club in Chelsea, London - for £16 million. The club's high- profile membership included the late Diana, Princess of Wales. City firm Macfarlanes advised the vendor, Cannons.


Motoring deal: The real estate team at Linklaters has advised car hire giant Hertz on the acquisition of new European headquarters in west London. Hertz has taken an entire 69,300 sq ft building in Uxbridge, which will bring its UK and European operations together under one roof. City firm Denton Wilde Sapte advised the landlord.


Stockiest deal: City firm Ashurst is acting for Deutsche Boerse on its proposed cash offer for the London Stock Exchange (LSE), with the Brussels office of magic circle firm Linklaters advising on competition issues. City giant Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is acting for the LSE.


Sportiest deal: London firm Wallace advised Enic Sports on the sale of Italian football club Vicenza to a consortium led by businessman Sergio Cassingena for an undisclosed amount. Italian firm Bonelli Erede Pappalardo advised Enic on Italian law, while local firm Studio Polato acted for the buyers.
