National firm Thompsons has written to more than 350 Labour MPs warning of a 'campaign of misinformation' by the Association of British Insurers (ABI) in advance of the publication of the government's proposals for reform of the personal injury claims process.
The letter warns that the ABI's 'slick marketing campaign based on half truths should not be allowed to skew further an already unbalanced fight'.
Last week, the ABI launched a report on the claims process, claiming that the current system is 'riddled with high legal costs'.
Thompsons director of policy and public affairs Tom Jones said the ABI was painting a one-sided picture.
An ABI spokesman said its campaign was for a better deal for claimants, adding that insurers were willing to make whatever changes were needed.
Meanwhile, a Ministry of Justice spokesman said its proposals were likely to be delayed until after 21 April.
