Hong Kong seconded
Only Hong Kong law firms are believed to have received licences for second offices in China in a round of licences announced last week.
The move to allow foreign firms - which is how Hong Kong firms are treated - to have more than one office in China is part of the country's obligations to the World Trade Organisation.
Deacons is among the firms to win a licence and will add Beijing to its existing Guangzhou presence.
