I was glad to see the article on legal language (see [2004] Gazette, 10 June, 15). But it is a shame that you were apparently unaware of the existence of Clarity - UK founded, but now ‘an international association promoting plain legal language’.

We not only discourage the use of Latin and archaisms, but encourage the use of simple, well punctuated sentences, clear logical structure, and good layout. Lawyers might wish to visit our Web site - www.clarity-international.net - or contact me -jp1@longuevillegittins.co.uk - or the UK representative Paul Clark - pec@crippslaw.com - for further details.
