Life begins at 50 as Linder Myers moves to attract clients

Manchester firm Linder Myers has launched an initiative to court clients older than 50 in a move to capitalise on the increasingly ageing population.

The firm has launched a 'Fifty Life' department to deal with particular issues faced by the over-50s in employment, clinical negligence, business, personal injury, human rights and trusts law issues.

Areas such as age discrimination in the workplace, planning for long-term health care and the rights of grandparents are among services that the department will offer.

Fifty Life will launch using direct mail and local advertising.

The initiative was prompted by research within the firm's private client group.

There has been growing focus on the legal needs of older people, but mostly those past retirement age.

Senior partner Bernard Seymour said: 'There are firms who specialise in the needs of the very elderly.

However, our Fifty Life department will have a much broader scope.

We are looking to assist all those over 50, most of whom lead very active lives and want to continue working or to find a way of planning for a relaxing and enjoyable retirement.'
