At Obiter we are sedentary types, but 18 April sees the annual sprint for the remote control.

Yes, it's the London marathon again and many a happy hour is spent in front of the telly, watching people in all sorts of agony when they hit 'the wall'.

That said, Obiter hails the achievements of south London criminal defence solicitor Jeffrey Gordon, who at the age of 70 will be running his 24th London marathon to raise funds this year for the Legal Action Group.

Also running in the event are these three people from regional law firm Laytons, raising funds for the Parkinson's Disease Society.

Obiter is no expert but bending over like that looks a rather painful way of running 26 miles and 385 yards.

And as for trying to do it in a suit - well even Bernie Clifton and his ostrich might balk at that, but at least it retains the dignity of the office of chief executive partner that Richard Kennett (pictured far left) holds.

Pictured also are solicitors Naomi Rounsefell and Tom Nicholls.

If there are any other lawyers running the marathon out there, Obiter is happy to receive details and photographs - particularly if they are breaking through the pain barrier for good causes and showing it.
