PRIVATE PRACTICEPartnersThe partnership landscape this week is dominated by solicitors leaving some of the major City firms for pastures new.

There are three departures from Eversheds: employment partner David Beswick moves to Hammond Suddards Edge, Iain Young joins Ernst & Young's associated law firm Tite & Lewis as a private equity partner, and Steven Ramsden moves to Beachcroft Wansbroughs as a projects partner in the department.

Nick Holland also joins Beachcrofts, leaving US telecoms manufacturers Lucent Technologies to become an IT partner in the Bristol office.Insolvency specialist Nicholas Frome has left Lovells to become a partner at Clifford Chance.Capital markets partner Alex Cohen has left Allen & Overy for the London office of US firm Latham & Watkins.

In other London hires, Penningtons has recruited Abraham Ezekiel as a business recovery partner at its London office.

He joins from former niche practice Wildes, which has been largely absorbed by Hammonds Suddards Edge.Scott Farnsworth, formerly of the now-dissolved Rosling Partnership, has joined the intellectual property litigation practice of Rooks Rider, becoming the firm's 13th partner.

Laytons has recruited taxation and probate specialist Brendan Hall from Wedlake Saint to work as a partner in its London office.Specialist pensions firm Sackers & Partners has taken its partnership to 20 with the promotions of Katherine Dandy, Julie Curry and Jane Kola.There are also three new partners at business and IT firm Kemp Little LLP, with Marcus Rowland (employment), Calum Murray (commercial), and Siobhan McElhinney (corporate) taking the partner total to nine.

Emma Harte has left Gordon Dadds to become a partner at Mayfair family specialists Alexiou Fisher Philipps, recently formed by three former Gordon Dadds partners.Hamlins has a new partner to head up its insolvency department following Tony Walker's move from Winward Fearon.Outside London, Chelmsford-based Merricks has promoted four solicitors to partners, taking its partnership to 19: Jane Williams (employment) and Colin Barr (commercial) in Chelmsford, Lindsay Baker (commercial) in Ipswich and Tim Willis (construction) in Birmingham.Also in Birmingham, Rob Parry leaves George Green to become a partner in the corporate department of Heatons.Garner Canning & Co's niche Chinese practice at the Wing Yip business centre in Birmingham is to be taken over by former employee Jenny Loynton, now set up as Loynton & Co.Nottingham personal injury firm Barratt Goff & Tomlinson has brought in Alison Brooks as a partner from Kingsley Napley.In York, insolvency partner Mike Sharp has arrived at Denison Till from Harrogate firm Kirbys.

PRIVATE PRACTICEChief executivesA recent spate of senior management appointments is headed by litigation partner Laurence Harris being elected chief executive of City firm DJ Freeman at only 35 years of age.

He takes over from Jonathan Lewis, who has stood down after three three-year terms.Ric Martin has taken up the newly created position of chief executive at City firm Kennedys.

He had a similar role at Townleys, which has been taken over by Hammond Suddards Edge.

Ipswich firm Birketts has appointed Alistair Lang, former regional director at the Bank of Scotland in East Anglia, as its first chief executive officer.

Bob Wright is standing down as managing partner after eight years.

Birmingham-based commercial firm Putsmans has appointed non-lawyer Tim Roberts as its chief executive.

He joins from Advantage West Midlands where he was director of inward investment.

PRIVATE PRACTICEAssociates/AssistantsIn addition to a new partner (see above), midlands firm Heatons has recruited four further staff.

Nicola Brooks (personal injury) and Simon Bond (employment) are brought in as associates from Knight & Sons and Hadens respectively, while Sian Elvis leaves Mills & Reeve and Inger Woolhouse departs Bowcock Cuerden to become assistants in the corporate department.Sacker & Partners has also undergone further reshuffling (see above) with the promotion of Faith Dickinson to associate and the recruitment of newly qualified Hugh Gittins from Rowe & Maw.City firm Davies Arnold Cooper has promoted five assistants to associate: Phil Murrin (reinsurance and professional indemnity), Gaynor White and Gillian Dada (both product liability and group actions), Sonia Jordan (insolvency), and Mark Shaya (property and construction).Leading Torbay firm Kitson Hutchings has taken on Lisa Evers, who has been clerk and legal adviser to the local magistrates for the past eight years.

She is working on both criminal and family matters.Liverpool firm Cuff Roberts has taken on three solicitors who have just qualified with the firm.

Raza Abbasi and Anton Stirrett join the company commercial department, while Edward Kitchen is a new family lawyer.Worcester firm Harrison Clark has similarly taken on Ricki Sidhu in its corporate department after he completed his training contract with the firm.

OTHERSBasingstoke firm Lamb Brooks has appointed personal injury barristers Russell Fortt and Sherry Dalesandro - both with Five Essex Court in London - as part-time advisers.Leading human rights law academic Francesca Klug has left King's College London to become a senior research fellow at the London School of Economics' centre for the study of human rights.
