Partners
James Love, formerly the founder and head of intellectual property (IP) at Irwin Mitchell, has moved to Pinsents to take up the post of national head of IP, based in Leeds.
He replaces Stephen Chandler, who has become IP and legal director at Cambridge Display Technology.
On the move from Pinsents' London office is company and commercial partner Peter McLoughlin, who joins Westminster firm Bircham Dyson Bell.
Bircham has also promoted employment lawyer Jesper Christensen and litigator Simon Painter, while Ian McCulloch has been re-elected as senior partner for a further three years.
The firm now has 41 partners.
In the City, reinsurance partner Ian McKenna has joined Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw's Lloyd's of London office from Holman Fenwick & Willan.
Ince & Co has recruited Michael Stockwood as a shipping partner.
He was formerly a partner with Sinclair Roche & Temperley, and stayed on as a consultant following its merger with Stephenson Harwood.
Geraint Lloyd has left Osborne Clarke to join Berwin Leighton Paisner's private equity and funds group as a partner.
Berwins has also promoted six lawyers, taking its partnership to 122: Greg Calladine-Smith and Ian Waring (real estate), Naveen Vijh (property finance), James Good (planning and environment), Andrea Macauley (insurance/ reinsurance) and Steven Williams (construction and engineering).
Four new partners for Penningtons take the firm to 58 partners: in London, Anna Frankum (intellectual property and commercial) and Caroline Summerfield (commercial property); and in Basingstoke, Michael Cash (contentious trust and probate) and Tim Davies (commercial property).
In Birmingham, Hammonds has hired Jeffrey Brown, former head of construction at Lee Crowder.
Mansfield-based Shacklocks has promoted family lawyer Rachel Brennan to partner.
The firm now has seven partners.
In Blackburn, Wendy Backhouse has traded her position as head of employment with Taylors for the same position at Backhouse Jones, where her husband works.Carl Marston (head of personal injury) and Jonathan McAreavey (head of both family and conveyancing) have been made partners at Stockport-based The Thrasher Walker Partnership.
Bolton-based Keoghs has made up disease specialist Gary Fitzpatrick and Pamela Moore of the special claims unit.
Across the Pennines, clinical negligence lawyer Vicki Hilton has been promoted to partner in Keeble Hawson's Sheffield office.

The north-west is where much of the action is this week.
Southport-based Barnetts has been on a recruiting spree, adding five solicitors to its conveyancing department: Honorah Daniels from Sharman & Son in Liverpool; Amanda Pye from Whitfields in Liverpool, Lisa Hodgkinson from Bradford-based Solicitors Direct, Clare Carter from Pannone & Partners, and Karen Whittaker from Preston-based AD Varley & Co.
There are also four new personal injury assistants: Jean Metcalfe from London firm Portner & Jaskel, Andrew Duckworth from Russell Jones & Walker, Sue Park from Skelmersdale-based Scott Rees & Co and Catherine Fanning from Preston firm Bhailok Fielding.
As well as new partners, Keoghs in Bolton has promoted four to associate status: Stratos Gatzouris (special claims unit) and personal injury specialists Clare Beglin, Sarah Butler and Fraser McAndry.
Mace & Jones's Manchester office has recruited Caroline Shafar as an employment assistant from Altrincham-based Myers Lister Price.
Personal injury assistant David Hughes has left Mendelsons in Manchester for the Warrington office of Forster Dean.
Liverpool firm Lees Lloyd Whitley has hired personal injury assistant Louise Wilding from Law Direct in Chester.
Also leaving Chester is company and commercial assistant Richard Campbell, who has swapped Aaron & Partners for Tees Valley firm The Endeavour Partnership.
In Sunderland, Ben Hoare Bell has hired personal injury assistant Jenny Gilbertson from Shaw & Co.
Jason Milkins, an associate specialising in corporate law, has moved from Osborne Clarke in Bristol to the Exeter office of Bevan Ashford.
