London lawyers make up fewer than one in three new partner appointments at Clifford Chance, which is perceived to be focusing particular attention on boosting its US business.

The City giant today announced the elevation of 28 to partnership, including nine in the UK capital. Eight of the nine are men.

They are: Benjamin Harding, Funds & Asset Management; Ben Redding, Real Estate; Cameron Dwyer, Tax, Pensions, Employment & Incentives; Chris Norman, Restructuring & Insolvency; Craig Grant, Private Equity; Dan Bomsztyk, Corporate Transactions & Advisory; Michael Gorrie, Disputes; Oliver Clarke, Funds & Asset Management; and Rebecca Trapp, Tax, Pensions, Employment & Incentives.

There are six new partners in the US, three in Paris, two each in Dusseldorf, Madrid and Sydney, and one each in Brussels, Frankfurt, Tokyo, and Hong Kong.

Charles Adams, global managing partner, said: ‘These promotions recognise lawyers who consistently operate at the highest level, delivering outstanding results for clients on their most complex, cross-border matters. They play a pivotal role in the firm’s strong performance, deepening key client relationships and driving the next phase of our growth strategy.’

The promotions take effect tomorrow.

Last year Clifford Chance promoted 31 to the partnership, including 12 in London.
