Paper jam solution

Robin Foyster complained recently of the massive amount of marketing material individual members of his firm receive from a certain training company (see 2000] Gazette, 17 August, 18).

I leave it to my more tech-friendly colleagues to come up with a technological solution.

All I can suggest is that he writes to the company concerned on behalf of all the recipients in his firm and asks it not to use their personal details for the purposes of direct marketing.

If it continues to do so it will be in breach of section 11 of the Data Protection Act, for which he can report it to the Data Protection Commissioner.

A legal solution from a lawyer - there's a turn-up for the books.
