Energy boost: City firm Norton Rose acted for Vattenfall, the Swedish energy company, on its £52m purchase of Eclipse Energy UK, which was advised by City firm Watson Farley & Williams.
West is best: National firm Beachcroft advised retail property group Westfield on letting 300 shop, restaurant and kiosk units in its new £1.6bn White City shopping complex in west London, which opened this week. Ashurst advised Westfield on construction and some of the lettings, and fellow City firm Berwin Leighton Paisner advised on planning.
Decision makers: Birmingham and London firm Wragge & Co advised defence technology provider QinetiQ on its £9.9m acquisition of UK-based Commerce Decisions, which provides tender assessment and management software products and was advised by City firm Bristows.
Pumped up: National firm Pinsent Masons advised the management team of CompAir, a compressed air and gas system manufacturer, on the company’s £200m sale to US company Gardner Denver, a compressor and pump manufacturer represented by US firm Baker & McKenzie.
In HOK: City firm SJ Berwin advised architects HOK International on leasing office space for its new headquarters at Derwent London’s Qube development in central London. The 15-year lease will cost around £1.4m a year. Derwent London was advised by City firm CMS Cameron McKenna.
Soft water: Leeds firm Schofield Sweeney advised utility services group Spice on its £5.2m acquisition of Morrel Consulting, which provides consultancy services to the water industry and was advised by West Midlands firm James Pearce & Co. Morrel has developed software that helps water companies to identify unbilled and under-billed properties, and leakage and under-recording meters.
Quantum of solace: Reading firm Pitmans advised drug developer Biogen Idec on leasing 54,000 sq ft of office space for its new headquarters in Quantum, Maidenhead, from landlord Terrace Hill, advised by City firm Clyde & Co.
