It takes a brave, some would say foolhardy, firm that allows its trainee solicitors to get involved in organising charity fundraising events.

Just look at the consequences for Gateley Wareing senior partner Michael Ward, put in the stocks at the midlands firm's wild west party last month.

Judging by the rather pained expression on his face, however, those would-be lawyers who are enjoying themselves just a bit too conspicuously around him may yet come to regret it in the run up to qualification.

Still, at least they already have the gear to find consolation by going to a line dancing evening.

Such ritual humiliation of top management is, of course, all in a good cause, with Mr Ward handing over a 6,700 cheque to a representative from Marie Curie.
