Simple 'scratch' site

City firm Reynolds Porter Chamberlain (RPC) has developed a software product which it claims will simplify reporting and 'scratching' for the legal insurance market.

Law firms such as RPC, with many insurance clients, spend much time reporting on risks and giving advice - either direct to underwriters or through brokers - using traditional hard-copy reports.

Once reports have been sent, they are then scratched, or updated, by the recipient and sent back.

The process is time consuming and bureaucratic.

CaseMan is an electronic insurance reporting and scratching system.

It enables lawyers to post reports to insurers and brokers on a secure Web site.

Access to the site is via a portal controlled by RPC, which issues a password to authorised users.

Each time a new report is created, relevant authorised users are notified by e-mail and sent a hyperlink to the report.

Having read the report, the user can scratch it electronically and send it back.

The system also enables firms to catalogue their reports on-line and search them for specific data.
