Sprecher spins out lecture for clients on CD and DVD
London-based commercial law firm Sprecher Grier Halberstam has produced a series of client briefings available in CD-Rom and DVD format or via the Internet. And the firm is hoping to impress the UK's top companies with this project. The briefings, produced in collaboration with legal news service Legal Web TV, take the form of six 30-minute lectures on topical legal issues, which are given by partners and associates.Brief highlights are available to view on the firm's Web site, where subscribers will have access to course updates and discussion boards.'The product will give customers and clients the chance to choose the method and time of delivery of information,' said Joanne Brook, an e-commerce and IT partner at Sprechers.
She added: 'It is not always easy for people to travel to lectures and training courses on legal issues.
But now they have a chance to learn at their own pace in the comfort of their own surroundings.'A 'taster' CD-Rom with excerpts from the Sprecher talks will be sent to all the firm's clients and to the top 2,000 companies in the UK.Legal IT expert Charles Christian, co-founder of Legal Web TV, said: 'E-learning is going to become a more established way of life.
It has generated a lot of interest in the legal market as it adds longevity to the presentations and is very cost effective.' He added that it can help in-house training too, especially at international law firms.Earlier this year, City firms Clifford Chance and Denton Wilde Sapte were among the first to unveil in-house on-line training for professional staff.Topics covered by the Sprecher briefings are employment law, director's duties, Internet domain names, trademarks, Internet use policies and data protection.LINKS: www.spr-law.com;www.legalwebtv.comAndrew Towler
