Surf kings make waves in chambers
Top marks to 11 Stone Buildings in London for attempting the, if not impossible, then highly unlikely task of linking a staid set of chambers...Top marks to 11 Stone Buildings in London for attempting the, if not impossible, then highly unlikely task of linking a staid set of chambers to the somewhat sexier art of surfing.
This card was sent, featuring head of chambers Murray Rosen QC (left) and senior clerk Chris Berry, to publicise the sets new Web site (www.11stonebuildings.com).
And rather a neat little site it is.
We liked the nursery, the section on the sets pupil barristers, but the profiles of each member of chambers are particularly revealing.
Among Michael Beckman QCs outside interests are, erm, people, John Phillips aspires to win Wimbledon (from the picture, dare we suggest he might have to settle for one of the older age categories), Sidney Ross writes verses about interesting legal topics, Marc Dight (pictured in red braces) lists curries and clubbing as his hobbies in an effort to sound trendy, Marcia Shekerdemian vacillates between Brookside and Harvey Nichols, James Barnard has a thing for Scalextric, while Jamie Rileys efforts to keep fit might be hampered by his other interests: food, wine, and malt whisky tasting.
But Jonathan Lopian probably sums up most lawyers non-legal life best: Most of his spare time outside chambers is spent thinking what he ought to be doing in his spare time.
