Taking flight:

There were big savings to be had in the January sales in Plymouth, it would seem.

One lucky punter, Guy Walker (centre), senior partner of local law firm Nash & Co, picked up a helicopter for a cut-price 1,801.40.

Either that, or the auction at the firm's annual Nash Bash (one sometimes suspects that it holds this clients and contacts bunfight simply because of the name) raised the same amount for the Plymouth & District Disabled Fellowship.

Mr Walker tells Obiter that the firm raised 800 more than it had expected.

'There was an awful lot of alcohol-induced peer pressure,' he explains.

Also pictured are Keith Thompson, chief pilot of Castle Air, which hosted the event, and Bruce Chapman, general administrator at the fellowship.
