Christmas is, inevitably, coming. And for two Liverpool offices this can mean only one thing: a battle of the jumpers.

Word reaches Obiter that the family law offices of JMW and MSB Solicitors are going head-to-head (well, more body-to-body) this Christmas to see who can come up with the finest festive knitwear.

The charity Save the Children runs spearheads a competition around the annual Christmas Jumper Day (14 December, since you ask) and encourages groups and individuals to sign up for a £2 per person donation. The charity chooses its favourite entrant from the thousands of people taking part.

When JMW partner Cara Nuttall tweeted her excitement about the prospect, MSB partner Emma Palmer suggested creating a little extra competition between the firms.

Matters snowballed and before long there was a trophy and festively decorated wooden spoon at stake. The idea is that pictures of each team will go on Twitter next month for a vote: the winner will be chosen by popular demand.

Social media is already awash with trash talking between these two foes, with both camps laying down a few markers. This is a contest that could get pretty hot (particularly with those jumpers on inside).
