After years of nappy changing, Obiter no longer regards the provision of public lavatories as a laughing matter. So it is with admiration that we congratulate west London firm DH Law Limited on joining Ealing Council’s community toilet scheme.

The idea is for local businesses to advertise with a window sticker that their facilities are open to members of the public without obligation to purchase.

So far, DH Law is the only law firm among the well-known burger outlets and supermarkets on the council’s list.

DH Law is also in the running to be named as ‘Britain’s friendliest business’ – the only law firm among 20 finalists. According to small-business funder Liberis, which sponsors the award, the judges particularly liked the firm’s community ethos.

Obiter is rooting for the firm – not least because, according to its website, its team includes office dog Scrappy Doo LLB (likes lots of bones).

But we wonder if any other firms have joined the community toilet scheme? Let us know at obiter@lawsociety.org.uk.
