Junior lawyer Sam Fawcett has handy inside knowledge to bring to Cumbria firm Cartmell Shepherd. He qualified as a solicitor this month after two years as a trainee, joining the firm’s agriculture team.

That’s a coup for Cartmell, as Fawcett knows what he’s about. He grew up on his family’s dairy firm near Penrith. Swapping fields for files, the NQ will be particularly useful in equine matters, having competed in regional and national carriage driving and eventing competitions.

‘Growing up on a farm, I always had an ambition to specialise in agriculture law,’ says Sam, ‘and I’m delighted to be working with a team that understands and supports farmers and the rural community.’
