Some City lawyers watching the finale of last weekend’s Last Night of the Proms may have spotted a familiar face singing Bohemian Rhapsody.

Sam Oladeinde took on the Freddie Mercury part, appearing at the Royal Albert Hall alongside Queen guitarist Brian May and the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

The British-Nigerian singer and actor has had a stellar stage career to date, recently starring as Aaron Burr in Hamilton. He is currently playing Javert in the West End production of Les Misérables for the musical’s 40th anniversary year.

Oladeinde is a ‘man o’ parts’. He completed a Master’s (with distinction) at the Royal Academy of Music in 2018, fully funded by an inaugural scholarship from Disney Theatrical Productions. Before that, he read law at the University of Cambridge and qualified as a solicitor with Debevoise & Plimpton.

We are guessing Sam hit all the right notes at the international law firm’s karaoke nights, before the lure of the greasepaint proved too strong.
