Manchester full service firm JMW Solicitors has posted a 17% rise in profit per equity partner (PEP) for 2014/15, on income which has almost doubled in five years.   

Revenue climbed by 13% on last year to £19.4m, with provisional profit up 8.5% to £3.8m.

PEP rose from £350,000 last time to £410,000.

‘This performance is even more remarkable when looked at in the context of the past five years, as fee income has increased by 90% from £10.2m,’ the firm said in a statement. ‘Personal Injury and clinical negligence both remained the most profitable departments in the firm, due to their forward-thinking investment in technology.’

The corporate department generated revenue growth of 47%, followed by private client with a 46% increase. Revenue was also up in family (20%), commercial property (11%), personal injury (9%) and clinical negligence (8%).  

The firm reported receiving 52% more instructions from new clients than in the previous year.

Website revenue climbed 18% to £1.3m and fees from the solicitor’s referral network Lawshare by 84%. Staff numbers rose from 245 to over 280.
