How about the following:

Unbundled legal services (also called limited scope representation) means a lawyer helps with part of a legal matter instead of handling the whole case. The lawyer and client agree in advance on which tasks the lawyer will do and which tasks the client will handle themselves.

This approach can lower costs for the client and lets them stay more involved, while also helping the lawyer manage risk by clearly defining their role.

For insurers, it’s important because the limited scope reduces exposure to claims, as long as the lawyer properly explains the boundaries of their work and documents the agreement.
