S. !(i) European Union Referendum Act 2015 reads "A referendum is to be held on whether or not UK is to remains a member of EU".

Is that not a decision of Parliament to delegate that issue to the people? If not, what was the point of the referendum? Why did parliament not just decide that it was going to decide the issue?

Surely s. 1(i) should have added something like "...but the result of such referendum will have to be confirmed by a resolution of both Houses of Parliament and will not be binding on them", or some such words.

It does seem odd that the PM could declare war on all other 27 EU member states, but cannot peacefully detach UK from it...

(NB For the avoidance of any doubt I am trying as hard as I can not to be a bad loser... but failing miserably!!!)
