If the vote had been to stay in the Kippers would have cried foul too. We would be back to square one with endless whining on TV and in the press and calls for a 'neverendum'.

We are leaving the EU, that is spelled out time and time again, even by the majority of those who wanted to stay in. Those calling for a second referendum are deluded, those thinking that there is a magic formular to stop our departure from the EU even more so.

What however is even more ridiculous is the unquenchable paranoia of the anti-EU zealot. They still can't quite grasp what to do now we are leaving, for years they have had a bogeyman to shout about and now it is gone so now they need a new one.

The demand that Art 50 is triggered by ministerial decree without open consulation flies in the face of all the Brexiteers claimed to be reclaiming from the unelected EU. They need to be careful what they wish for. The government has given no guarantee that freedom of movement will be ended and they are already striking private deals with big business and banks to ensure they get what they want. That is highly unlikley to be in the interests of 'the people' or to reflect the wave of nationalistic hysteria that the referendum unleashed.

Will the Brexiteers be happy if these secret negotiations turn out to be less than congruent with the rest of their demands? Will they be happy if the Royal Prerogative happens to be applied to a new treaty ensuring our remaining in the single market? Do not assume that the Hard Brexit rhetoric will actually deliver, contrary to the view now held by many the refrendum did not hand 'power to the people'.
