There are many issues raised by the tabloid's behaviour, not just in the last couple of days but in the EU referendum campaign and the years before. 'Up Yours Chiraq', remember that? We value the right to a free and open press in this country, but that right is being abused and the editors are laughing at us. Instead of being responsible and voicing their opinion, in a reasoned and rational manner, the tabloids are giving voice to irrational, hysterical uneducated views that do not withstand even the most cursory attempt at scrutiny. The only possibly outcome, and I think this is their aim, is the indoctrination of their (many) gullible readers. God only knows for what gain, because it sells papers perhaps, but the outcome is catastrophic for society and democracy. I agree with others, we are going the way of the US where any number of fallacious opinions are being held up as the truth and dominating the public discourse. I see no difference between Brexit and Trump as socio-political catastrophes, both sides of the same coin, based on lack of intellectual thought. Former US Court judge David Souter gave an oustanding interview on this very point

The Daily Fail and other's bleating about the judges, holding up the principals of my country's democracy becuase they want to create fear and anger is beyond irresponsible, and utterly outrageous. If newspaper editors cannot act with restraint, respect the law, then they should know that the law will fight back.
