The conveyancing association "represents" 38 firms out of thousands. Their opinions are no more valid than anyone elses.

The only "reforms" there need to be (IMHO) are:-

1. Qualified fee earners only. Unqualified staff handling files with poor supervision is causing serious problems.

2. Regulatory reforms to penalise conveyancing factories - 100+ files per person is ridiculous.

3. Legislation to regulate panels so that ALL qualifying firms can be on panels, including sole practitioners that comply with the rules, not just bigger firms and conveyancing factories.

4. Leasehold reform legislation to regulate the cost of a leasehold management pack and notice fees, £300+ is ridiculous and mandate a time period for consent under restrictions to be provided.

Once you get the professionalism back into the work things will improve. It's only the quest to "dumb down" and "computer says no" with unqualified staff running the show that problems have arisen.
