Yes, but were the complaints reasonable or genuine, and were they upheld?

Workers pay hasn't increased in real-terms since the 1990s and has decreased in many sectors. We now have a greater percentage of the population in work but paid (in real terms) less than they were 20 years ago. Those low paid workers don't earn enough to pay taxes or NI. Is it their fault? Absolutely not.

Yet at the same time, there has been an increase in wealth but the one percenters are paying themselves more money personally which goes into off-shore accounts and not re-investing it into the economy.

So to keep the economy moving, the costs (and quality) of products and services have fallen because there is less money about to pay for them.

And people are being encouraged to complain about getting less for paying less but unreasonably expecting more.
