Judge Lush makes good and sensible points, as does Philip Evans.
My elderly mother took out LPA several years ago naming my two sisters. She did not tell my brother or me what she had done - only telling me a couple of months ago (at the same time she made slight changes to her Will - her prerogative - which included changing the executors but again not telling us).
My brother and I trust our sisters and are certain they will always act properly.
However, it is the failure to tell us at the time which is hurtful and irritating and which could easily cause problems between siblings and other relations. I agree that it should be a requirement that certain categories of close relatives should be informed and simple accounts prepared and checked by, say, OPG or at least produced to those close relatives. That should go a long way towards avoiding suspicion, bad feeling and - at worse - fraud.
