The law is simple.

No party can be given special dispensation.
If the CPR is too complex for litigants in person then there are a number of solutions:
a) the CPR is simplified and made more accessible (and every litigator would happily support this - the CPR is an unnecessarily complex set of rules IMHO. )
b) the judges will have to take a much more active role in the management of cases, including online support etc;
c) the Government grants a form of free legal assistants for LiP (- we could call it something like "legal help" or "legal aid"

When I qualified much longer than I care to remember ......a) applied ...the rules were much more simple ....oh! and b) applied too, the judges were not a buried in work and took more of an active role, and c) oh yes, I you couldn't afford solicitors (and who can these days [with costs racking up so fast as solicitors try to navigate the complex CPR]), there was a thing called legal aid........

and then the Government and successive Lord Chief Justices and others started interfering with the process .........

....ah! I remember it well!
