The law society should immediately update the standard conditions to include the following clause:-

"In light of the decision in Dreamvar v Mishcon de Reya the buyers have accepted that the sellers conveyancers have undertaken reasonable checks on the identity of the sellers and their entitlement to sell this property but the sellers solicitors provide no undertakings or warranties in this regard and will not be liable to the buyers in the event of fraud"

Then the buyers solicitors should in turn have a clause in their terms and conditions limiting their liability in property transactions where the seller is fraudulent, and every buyer should be offered indemnity insurance at their cost that the likes of Countrywide Legal Indemnities are almost sure to be offering shortly.
