To suggest that Law Centres can continue to provide the wrap around benefit advice where they have not been successful in bidding for the duty contract or have had to bid at a reduced price to ensure a successful bid shows a lack of understanding of the funding of law centres. There is essentially no legal aid funding for benefit advice so the cost of providing this help (often vital for preventing eviction) is often supplemented by money earned from the duty scheme - without this level of income we can't afford to pay for the staff to deliver the advice
