It seems like trainee solicitors need to be reminded that they are employed on a fixed-term contract. Accordingly, they would be foolish not to proceed on the basis that, unless told to the contrary, they may be out of a job 24 months after they start their training contract. The survey figures suggest that most of those surveyed expect to have their hand held. Grow up, people! It is your responsibility to prepare for the risk of having to look for another job. Who do you think should be providing this support? Why should the firm (or, more correctly, its clients) who has decided you do not cut the mustard have to do it? You are supposed to be resourceful adults.
