You know, Scep Tick, I would have no difficulty in giving ALL defendants and suspects - not jsut public figures and in sex cases - a right to anonymity unless and until there is a conviction. The certainty that mud will stick greatly outweighs the occasional case where another soi-disant victim comes forward.

There would ahve to be an exception - with the leave of the court - to over the case of someone on the run where publishing the name as well as the face might fenuinely lead to him being traced. But that should not be in the judgment of the media.
