It always troubles me to read a sentence starting with “Whilst in no way belittling ...” because you just know that there’s a very big ‘but’ to come followed by a conclusion based upon another verb that means something very similar. Will the professional ever create an environment in which depression can be properly understood as having the ability -depending on its degree and scope - to damage performance to an exceptional extent? The answer here appears to be no,
