Absolutely dreadful, how he has been treated. I am also very unhappy about the new SRA rules on anonymous on line posting (where people know you are a solicitor) which are extremely vague and seem to leave far too much discretion to the SRA in deciding what is offensive.

Can we not move to much greater freedom of speech on line? I want to live in a UK where people have more not less freedom to insult each other and saying sometihng that others fine offensive. Je suis Charlie. We need to stand up for the right to say what people like. We are censored right left and centre these days.

I have no particular common cause with this chap as I'm a Tory feminist atheist but I do think the SRA needs to be curbed and also I want much clearer rules for what solicitors can post on-line. I read the rules. The y are not at all clear. I think I should be mostly okay as I tend just to debate issues rather than say anything personal.
I want him free to be rude to others and others to be free to be rude back to him about his religions or anythning else and if people get upset we need to say - "wow, you weakling, grow a thicker skin or don't go on-line if cannot take the heat, go and cry in a corner or get therapy, suck it up."
