Isn't all this focus on "tech" just a little bit emperor's new clothesy?

" ‘We are constantly looking for ways to grow and innovate...' "

Growth, fine, but innovation? Why the desire to constantly innovate? Innovation is one of those concepts that sounds as though it is universally positive and desirable, but when you look at most legal practices, innovation doesn't really form any part of what firms do, or how they do it.

What would be wrong with focusing on the skills that lawyers need, rather than riding other peoples' buzzword-laden, but largely (in practical terms) meaningless bandwagon?

And no, I'm not a curmudgeonly 60 year old with only a dictaphone and a fountain pen on my desk.
