Whilst on one level I applaud the courage of those protestors, we do live in a country with a strong rule of law and human rights. Doubtless people will point to aberrations but if we start sanctioning the commission of criminal acts to protest against what was a legal and lawfully process, then we are in trouble.

By all means adopt this tactic in countries which truly do ride roughshod over people's rights (although you are more likely to get summarily executed or put in a gulag in those countries), but once you decide you are going to step outside the law, you should be prepared to bear the consequences
