Anon @9.21, that's simply not true. We advise employees on whether they should sign such agreements pretty regularly.

And here in deepest Prescot, I have to tell you, we are not inundated with pretty young Instagram Influencers being touched up on the superyachts of billionaires who wish to silence their abusees.

Rather more often than not it people who go off sick constantly for "stress" whom the employer wants rid of, but does not wish to be accused of disability discrimination or failing to support their employee. So employee gets a wad of cash without having to turn up to work. Result! In return they promise not to go badmouthing the employer or - more pertinently - telling all the other employees that there's a prospect of easy cash if they do X, Y and Z.
