A media trawl last week unearthed a magnificently splenetic piece on court fees and the looming threat of privatisation by one, er, Sarah Vine. ‘The public are not consumers, they are citizens,’ she railed.

Hear, hear! There is surely hope for justice when none other than the spouse of our present lord chancellor is on the side of the angels.

Alas, no. Obiter’s extensive research has revealed that the author is not in fact the waspish Daily Mail columnist.

The ‘other’ Sarah Vine, who penned the polemic in the Guardian, is a criminal barrister with the combative Twitter handle @queenofjustice. For the avoidance of doubt, her article carries the rider: ‘She is not married to Michael Gove.’

Nor is she ever likely to be, on this evidence.
