The founders of Turkish firm Yuksel Karkin Attorney Partnership have relocated to London, offering advice on Turkish and international law.

The London office is in 30 St Mary Axe (also known as the Gherkin) in the City. The firm said it decided to relocate to the UK in 2017. The London firm is called Karkin & Yuksel (K&Y).

The firm said its expertise in Turkish law can be beneficially brought to London.

Cuneyt Yuksel and Murat Karkin, the firm’s managing partners, established the firm in 2006 in Istanbul and Ankara. Between 2010 to 2014 it acted as the Turkish arm of international firm DLA Piper.

Yuksel said the firm aims to establish itself as London’s leading adviser in Turkish law. ‘We aim to work closely with law firms that need our specialist counsel as well as advising business and individuals directly. It’s a very buoyant time here in London and we’re confident in our ability to make this a huge success,’ he said.

The full-service firm works with international law firms, corporates, small and medium-sized enterprises and individuals. It said it will practise Turkish law with capabilities to advise on international arbitration and transactions covering multiple jurisdictions. The London office has seven staff.
