National law firm Reeds Solicitors LLP has appointed business crime lawyer Neil Williams to lead the firm’s complex crime team in London.

Williams joins as the team's deputy head to Oxford-based partner Julian Richards.

He specialises in global bribery and corruption cases, and is regularly instructed to represent those facing allegations of fraud involving the energy sector and financial services, multinational and worldwide white-collar crime. He also represents those facing accusations of corruption in public office, including allegations relating to the award of maintenance contracts in the Royal Households.

Williams is recognised for running complex, high-profile, and large-scale business crime cases involving companies and organisations; including the first UK cases to involve deferred prosecution agreements and SFO Bribery Act prosecutions. He also conducts internal investigations for corporate clients and advises and represents those who wish to bring private prosecutions.

Richards commented: 'Appointing Neil Williams to the complex crime team is a real coup for the firm and highlights our commitment to growing the department and adding a special focus to the London market. He will be heading up our London complex crime team and will focus on large scale prosecutions. We very much look forward to continuing to grow the practice and having Neil on board.'

Williams added: 'I am excited to be joining Reeds’ London office and working with this well recognised team. My experience in all matters of complex crime will no doubt complement the rest of the firm’s expertise. I am particularly impressed by the firm’s dedication to grow the department and am thrilled to be a part of the journey.'
