Enable Law, Foot Anstey’s newly created medical negligence practice, has recruited a team of 11 people from Michelmores LLP to help support the future growth of the new business.

Earlier this year Michelmores made the strategic decision to exit the clinical negligence market and therefore Enable Law will be significantly strengthened by the arrival of such an established and experienced team. The team has been ranked in tier one by Legal 500 for clinical negligence: claimant, alongside Foot Anstey/Enable Law. The new employees will be joining the firm’s offices in Exeter and Plymouth.

The 11-strong team includes executive director Bernadette McGhie and legal directors Angie Maxwell and Laurence Vick and, each of whom have a strong profile in the market.

Rob Antrobus, head of Enable Law, said: ’The growth of the team at this time represents an excellent start for Enable Law. The new team members bring a wealth of additional experience and are aligned with our strategy of supporting individuals with life altering conditions and building strong relationships with medical organisations and charities. This announcement also cements our position as the dominant medical negligence firm in the region and provides a platform for further growth.’

Enable Law launched on 1 May as a separate business entity to Foot Anstey and represents a new brand for their medical negligence, personal injury and mental capacity practice. The new brand will allow Enable Law to focus on the needs of the individuals affected by medical negligence, while also allowing Foot Anstey to focus on its core proposition of providing a client-centric service.
