Arbor Law has appointed Sahar Farooqi as its first managing partner.
Farooqi’s appointment follows eight months as Arbor Law’s chief transformation officer. A former barrister and international law firm partner, Farooqi previously served as transformation officer for global offshore law firm Harneys.
He is also the founder of Legalencia, a consultancy focused on transformation and growth in legal and professional services businesses.
Kate Bennett, one of Arbor Law’s three founding partners, commented: 'Sahar’s appointment reflects both the progress we have made and the scale of our ambition from here. Arbor was built on the belief that there is a better way to practise law by maintaining the experience and excellence of top-tier firms while offering a more direct, agile and human model for both clients and lawyers.
As we grow, our culture and values remain central. Sahar brings the leadership and commercial focus we need for this next phase, alongside a clear understanding of what makes Arbor distinctive.'
Farooqi said: 'Arbor is building something genuinely different - a firm that combines legal excellence with a model better aligned to how clients and senior lawyers now want to work.
Having worked closely with the business over the past eight months, I’ve seen the strength of its foundations and the clarity of its ambition. I’m grateful for the opportunity to take on this role and excited to lead the next phase of growth.
Our focus now is on execution, building on that platform and demonstrating that there is a better way to deliver legal services at the highest level.'
