Audit committee - vacancy for a non-council solicitor chairman
The audit committee was established by the Law Society Council in July 1997.
Its key tasks include keeping under review the systems of internal control, risk management and internal audit within the Society; commissioning investigations into any aspect of the Society's activities and systems; keeping under review compliance by the Society with the combined code on corporate governance and guidance on internal control; and generally advising the council and the main board on all aspects of audit and financial control within the Society.
There is a vacancy for the chairman of the audit committee, who is to be a solicitor not serving on the council.
The Society wishes to encourage applications for the chair of the committee from all eligible solicitors, irrespective of gender, race, colour, age, sexual orientation or disability and appointments will be based on merit, after a clear selection process.
