Audit committee - vacancy for non-council members

The audit committee, a special committee of the Law Society Council, was established in July 1997.

Key tasks of the committee include keeping under review the systems of internal control, risk management and internal audit within the Society; commissioning investigations into any aspect of the Society's activities and systems; keeping under review compliance by the Society with the combined code on corporate governance and guidance on internal control; and generally advising the council and the main board on all aspects of audit and financial control within the Society.

There are currently vacancies for members of the committee, who may be either a solicitor with financial experience not serving on the council or a qualified accountant with an interest in audit.

The Society wishes to encourage applications from all eligible people, irrespective of gender, race, colour, age, sexual orientation or disability and appointments will be based on merit, following an open and clear selection process.
