The Law Society hosted the annual Black History Month Inspiration evening on 11 October, bringing together an impressive line up of high-profile, high-achieving minority lawyers. The event, themed ‘Against all Odds’, featured speakers who reflected on their personal experiences of the law and their professional journey.

Also featuring in this year’s Black History Month programme is the London premiere of The Scottsboro Boys, a musical based on the true story of a group of black teenagers wrongly accused of rape in 1930s Alabama. Their case became a milestone in the history of US civil rights, leading to the end of all-white juries in the American south.

The musical runs at the Young Vic, Waterloo until 21 December.
