National firm Clarke Willmott says it is perfectly placed for more investment in the business after another excellent year.

Ahead of filing its annual accounts for 2024/25, the firm reported that its profit was up 10% to £20.3m, with turnover increasing by 9% to £64.7m.

Growth was particularly noticeable in the private client, corporate and strategic property sectors. Clarke Willmott said it had maintained a strong cash position of over £9m at the end of the financial year, with no balance sheet debt.

Chief executive Peter Swinburn said the firm is ambitious and looking to grow further after a successful 12 months. ‘We remain steadfast in our independence and are committed to ongoing investment to further develop our firm,’ he added. ‘Despite the challenging environment as we move into FY26, we recognise the importance of not resting on our past successes.’

Swinburn said the firm is committed to sustainability and social inclusion despite some legal practices appearing in the last year to row back from these elements of the business.

Founded in the south west in 1888, the firm now operates from seven locations across England and Wales and has around 640 staff including 110 partners.
