Most scrambled deal: City firm Lovells advised Goldman Sachs international, sponsor and broker to on-line bank Egg, on Egg's initial public offering.

The company's market capitalisation reached 1.3 billion, and customers were able to buy shares on-line.

Egg was advised by Slaughter and May.

Slimiest deal: Travers Smith Braithwaite is acting for the Slug and Lettuce Group on SFI Group's 31.6 million offer for the pub chain.

Simmons and Simmons is acting for SFI.

Most sporting deal: Nicholson Graham & Jones acted for ICC Development, the commercial arm of the International Cricket Council, on the sale of broadcast, sponsorship and internet rights for the next two cricket world cups.

World Sports Group, supported by News International, bought the rights for 355 million; both were advised by niche sports law firm Townleys.

Most understanding deal: Fladgate Fielder advised BATM Advanced Communications on the memorandum of understanding it has entered into with Sun Microsystems, stating the companies' intention to co-operate in product supply and technology.

Sun, which was advised by Taylor Joynson Garrett, has also bought 6.1 million of BATM shares.

Well-aimed deals: Berwin Leighton was involved in the flotation of four companies on the Alternative Investment Market last week: e-commerce company Bidtimes, investment/incubator Corvus Capital, transport group Tolmount and on-line community forum site themutual.net.

Total market capitalisation for the four companies is 41.2 million.

Most oddly named deal: Olswang advised the Carphone Warehouse on its WAP venture with America Online (AOL) and its affiliate AOL Europe, named Mviva.

AOL Europe will pay 25 million for a 25% stake in Mviva, promoting the service and providing online services for it.

America Online was advised by Clifford Chance and Arnold & Porter on English and US law respectively.

Most agricultural deal: Fox Williams acted for publishing giant Reed Business Information on its acquisition of the entire issued share capital of agricultural software company Farmplan Group for an undiclosed sum.

Rickerby Watterson acted for Farmplan Group.
