Most alcoholic deal: CMS Cameron McKenna acted for Enterprise Inns on its 875 million acquisition of 1,860 pubs from Laurel Pub Holdings, advised by Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
Norton Rose acted for the lead arrangers, while Hammond Suddards Edge provided Enterprise with employment advice.
Most driven deal: North-west firm Brabners Chaffe Street acted for Nationwide Autocentres on its multi-million pound acquisition of Lex Autocentres, a chain of 96 service centres across the UK, advised by Berwin Leighton Paisner and Pinsent Curtis Biddle.
Pinsents and Nottingham-based Freethcartwright advised the funders, NBGI Private Equity and Bank of Scotland respectively.
Most Parisian deal: London firm Davenport Lyons advised Maxwell Restaurants in acquiring the famous Caf de Paris in London's Leicester Square from the Millennium Group, represented in-house.
Most golden deal: Lawrence Graham is acting for mineral exploration company Brancote Holdings on the recommended 160 million bid by Canadian mining company Meridian Gold, advised by US firm Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom.
Most interactive deal: City-based LLP Kemp Little acted for television technology and services business GOiNTERACTtv, a former wholly owned subsidiary of Sony, on a 5.5 million investment by Doughty Hanson Technology Ventures, advised by US firm Brobeck Hale & Dorr.
Denton Wilde Sapte represented Sony, which is now a significant minority shareholder.
Most legal deal: Birmingham firm Wragge & Co advised property company MEPC on the pre-letting of Eversheds' new 93,500 sq ft Cardiff office in Bute Square, to open this month.
Eversheds was advised by lawyers in its Birmingham office.
Best stored deal: Fenners acted for specialist crate rental business Teacrate on its 15 million sale to PHS Group, advised by Morgan Cole.
Most powerful deal: Burges Salmon advised Western Power Distribution (South West) and Western Power Distribution (South Wales) on the landmark merger of their pension groups within the Electricity Supply Pension Scheme.
It was prompted by Western Power Distribution's acquisition of Hyder in October 2000.
Best-accounted deal: Herbert Smith acted for PricewaterhouseCoopers on the merger of its China and Hong Kong practice with that of Andersen, advised by CMS Cameron McKenna.
